This first video is from the Prince of Persia. It's not like what we have been listening to in class, but it sounds really cool so I wanted to share it with you.
This next video is not like the traditional Chinese music that we listened to in class today, but it has the instruments that we learned about today.
This last video has really cool music and beautiful images that I just had to share with you. Well, let me know what you think.
I love the Mulan video! It's cool to go back and watch it now that we know what to listen for as far as traditional Chinese music. You can really hear the pentatonic scale.
ReplyDeleteI have always loved Mulan! I even remember seeing it in theaters when I was little. This may sound odd, since clearly it is Chinese, I never really noticed the distinct differences in the music compared to most of our music. As Lauren mentioned, the pentatonic scale is really evident. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAs a video gamer, Prince of Persia is one of my favorites, although I haven't seen the movie. I like how you used that and Mulan to represent different cultures with an American type of twist.
ReplyDeleteThe Indonesian music is really fun! It's so different from what we have but I really enjoyed watching it.
I especially like the Indonesian clip. But then, I really love gamelan music--it makes me happy.
ReplyDeleteI love Mulan! Actually I love all Disney movies but Mulan is totally up there with my favorite Disney movies! I think Honor to Us All gives us a very good example of traditional Chinese music, and I'm so happy that you shared it with us!
